June 10 to morning of 13th. 1878

Erythrina corollodendron.

circumnutation of Leaflet,

Old plant cut down, now 18 inches high— Terminal leaflet observed, secured to stick just behind joint. Leaf without joint [sketch]

2 1/2 inches long. —Traced on vertical glass under skylight

Temp. 15 1/2 to 16 1/2 C. — Tip of leaf 4 1/2 inches from glass—

Plant did not go to sleep well, either too cold or not light enough.— Day 11th after rising till 8° 15' oscillated. ie circumnutated greatly up & down till 4° P.m, but did not rise so high as on previous or succeeding day, & then great downward movement commenced — ascending & descending lines very near & parallel.— Next day 12th movement extremely simple up & down.— Mem. when leaflet depressed much tracing greatly exaggerated.
