Course of apex of leaf of M. pudica traced by Frank

July 1874 when leaf asleep. In diagram (1) the leaf had been lately placed in a new position & probably the leaf had bent itself during day greatly to the light. In (2) & (3) the leaves had nearly faced to light for several days & here we see little lateral movement, but complicated zig-zag.
