Gazania ringens Circumnutation of stem

Young plant, 7 inches to summit of tallest highest leaf. Filament fixed transversely to near summit of stem. Traced on Horizontal glass in darkness.— From bowing of stem bead was brought closer to card & tracing more magnified towards close of observation than at commencement; at latter period, when it was magnified 68 times. Tracing trustworthy — There can be no doubt stem circumnutates.—

(The movements circumnutation of the stem of a young plant, 7 inches in height as measured to tip of higher leaf, is given in was traced during 33 hours, & are is shown in the accompanying figure. Fig. There are The main lines at ri nearly right angle to 2 other lines; & may be observed, but these are interrupted by small loops.
