Imatophyllum

(A) the pot see fig stood in cool greenhouse 16 1/2 inch from BC which represents the glass partition between the green house & grape house. A straight bit of glass 6 cm (2.4 inches) was fastened onto leaf & observed by foreshortening, & dots made on the vertical glass.

Observed for 3 days Oct 8, 9, & 10; everyday it f sank during the morning & rose during afternoon & morning evening. The angle O was about 50 & O only altered when the leaf at its highest & 48 at the lowest the extreme of movement bet being 2°–; the tip of the leaf rose & fell through about 2 cm or about .8 inch

The dots were all except 7 made on Oct 8th & were used as a scale for subsequent days. Thus Oct 10th "S of 5" means between 5 & [illeg] 1,

Another leaf on a distinct plant was roughly observed [illeg] & found to sink & rise in the same way as the first one

The leaf observed Oct 8th began to rise between 2.20 & 3.50 pm on Oct 9th it began to rise between 11.30 am & 4.13 pm
