(18.) Nephrodium molle

Circumnutation of Rachis? [sketch]

I know not whether R this is Rachis & whether more allied to stem or petiole.

A youngish frond 17 inches high, or higher with its tip not as yet fully uncurved almost horizontal had glass filament attached near to its apex which was not as yet fully uncurled with triangle of paper, & movement traced on vertical glass under skylight illuminate from ab. But day rather cold 15°-16 Cent.— Wd have moved more in HotHouse. See Tracing

Traced from 9° 15' a.m on 28th to 9° a.m on 29th. —

The movement until 10.30 or 12° 30' probably due to disturbance of plant.

There can be no doubt circumnutates largely, for frond not distant from vertical glass.
