Cauliflower 1877

(Stem well secured at base of long petiole of the 2 Cots.)

(1)

Oct 13th— Bristle fixed to the larger Cot — Distance of vertical glass to pins Head 5 1/8 inches— distance of pin-head to end of Bristle 1/8 of inch. First dot (1) at 8° 52' Cot. then fell greatly till 10° 55'; then rose immensely till 11° 35', when out of glass.— Movement too much magnified so put the pins-head further off & made new dot at 11° 42' (see  diagram) continued to rise for short distance & made a little loop by descending.

2

At 3° 34 began to rise & continued to do so till 7° 15, then zigzagged & made loop till 10° 38' P.m.

Day uniformly Cloudy — There can be no doubts of movements of cotyledons &hardly a doubt of nutation of stem.—
