Nolana prostrata (Used)

Novr 20th. Put young Cot. under 2 inch object glass, so that each division of micrometer equaled 1/500 of inch & made mark on end of one Cot— stem free.— After being 2 for an hour in darkness the point moved 4 24/500 of inch in 13', but movement really rather quicker for it crossed the divisions rather obliquely & from moving downward got a little out of focus, & was moving downwards The seedling was gone freely downward for Afterwards interval of an hour another 1° again moved & tonight the following m through crossed 2 division in 6' 18' i.e at nearly same rate. After another space interval of an hour the point moved through 2 division in 4' 15' ie Therefore at quicker rate. After a more long interval, the point — Still later in the afternoon stood still for a time & then moved very slowly, perhaps the room was too cold.— Judging from prev[ious] cases there can I think be no doubt that the whole seedling was nutating.
