Primula Sinensis 1877
Traced on Horizontal glass.— Plant had for 1 or 2 day held same relative position.—
Oct 15' filament of glass attached to little free stem, not touching cotyledon & no true leaves formed. From 8º 55 to 10º 27 to light, then back from light till 12º 7', then steadily to light to 4º 35— I then changed position of standard mark; continued to move to light till 5º. 8; then went back; after 7º 25', moved very slowly again in direction of light (like the 1st plant) but slowly: & after 8º 30
By next morning had moved from light & to the left— I do not know what to think, unless heliotropism replaces & destroys nutation.
(Oct 16th Tracing as yesterday; plant in same position; but tracing more magnified (Perhaps filament of glass gummed along axis interfere with nutation) See diagram 2. The great zigzagging coincident with day become very black— movement in evening exaggerated by sliding of glass. On both days moved toward light in evening. There must be, I think nutation.
