Red Cabbage
Nov. 10th 77
Selected a seedling very young with shorter Cot. quite upright or not expanded & fixed filament of glass & traced in closet in complete [sketch] darkness nutation (Diagram M.) on horizontal glass. Tracing magnified 8 times, but more when it becomes very oblique. Wonderful nutation — at right-angles. No doubt far more complex really & longer ellipses for dots generally made at intervals of hours — Position & course shown next morning
I think stem bends to rubbed side— Pricking & rubbing Cots— no effect
Nutation of stem in complete darkness
