Slicing Horse chestnuts

4 sliced 10 am Dec 21st; grew in damp air on chimney piece under a cape of paper

Oct Dec 22. 10 am— One slight bent away from cut this bending was just visible at night on Dec 21

Oct Dec 24. 9 15am. Still slightly bent

Dec 25. 10 am Two of the 4 slightly curved away from cut but so little as to be worth nothing

Dec 27 10. 30 am Bent in all sorts of ways

Sliced 4 Horse chestnuts sliced 10 am Dec 24— Grow in damp air on chimney piece under paper cap.

Dec 25 / 10 am. 2 i & ii slightly bent at the tip close to away from cut: 24 other (iii & iv) not bent

Dec 26th         i still curved away      iii slightly curved towards cut

9 30 am           ii got straight 

Dec 27.

10. 34 am} Not bent except one (iii [illeg]) which is bent towards cut & it looks as if the cut had grown into a long strip along the concave side, & the bending was due to the uninjured side growing more.

Dec 28. i bent near to seed away from cut; iii bent towards cut

Sliced 5 horse chestnuts — big jar damp air (with cap on) on study chimney piece

11. 50 pm No 1 curved partly away from cut; that is the cut being W or SW the bean root has bent N. None of the rest bent—

Jan 1. 8 45 am. No 5 bent faintly from cut — Slightly more bend from cut on No 1

Jan 2 / 11 .5am

 No 1 is clearly bent from cut

 —"— 32; at 10mm from tip it bends away from cut so as to make 25° with vertical

—, 3 Is cracked, as if burst

 4 If any bend it is away from cut

 5 No bend

Jan 3. 9 45 pm

No 1 straight

2 & 4 distinctly bent close to tip away from cut— altogether 3 out of 5 bent away of the remainder one is burst 3/5
