Radicles now very long straight & perpendicularly dependent a smooth-skinned Pea—

radicles germinate much better

of them in a plane at 20 with their longer axes which appears to the eye a very slight inclination, incline appears slight to the eye, & the other two at an angle of about 45°— was allowed to grow [illeg] down vertically into with water. Under these circumstances no less than 19 out of the 30 radicles became much distorted [sketch]
