General. Notes.

The experi beans seeds were all grown in sieves made of netting in damp sawdust, according to Sachs directions in his paper

The sieves were hung up in a small room about 10 ft X 5 which was kept damp ments by wetting a sheet hung up in the room; but during the earlier experi afterwards this was found to be unnecessary—

The room was darkened except during some of the Phaseolus experiments in November when a large paraffine lamp was kept burning in it to warm it.

In Phaseolus the bending place is 5 or 6 mm from the tip.
