Radicles with sqr. of sand paper shell-lacced to tip.— Of differnt lengths, mostly short, all pointng perpendicularly down pinned to cork lids of jars— radicles grw very slowly
(1) Oct 19' 10º a.m. (21' 11º 10' not bent; knocked off sq accidentally, renewed it.
Oct 22 9º a.m. slightly inclined from card, rather long radicle.) (23d 8º a.m straight ); put on fresh square) (24th. 8º refixed sqr) sq. knocked off 25' 8º a.m refixed.— (27' 8º straight sqr washed off, has grown to unusal length & quit straight.) Oct 29th. 8º a.m. This very curious case has kept straight all this time, & now radicle is 3.2 inchs long & perfecly straight, except tip which is bent into complete Hook from square ✔
