Secondary Roots    jar B C. on sand-bath

Aug 3d. 8º 50' a.m sqr fixed on 13 secondary roots— all straight, some vertically down, most inclined— (The weight of sqr. on the inclined radicle wd pull them more vertically down.) (5º. P.m no effect on any of the Secondary Radicles.)

Aug 4 8º a.m, no clear effect, doubtful in 2 or 3 cases but I examined several of the rootlets & there tips were so thin & pointed they had become coated all round with shell-lac.
