2 oz & 4 oz. 9° a.m. Mar. 22d

(March 23d 8° a.m. had lifted up the 2 oz a good bit & plant on 6 oz)

(Mar 23d 8° a.m had lifted up 4 oz 1/10' of inch put on 8 oz)

24th 8° a.m failed to lift 6 or 8' oz— radicle bowed outward or doubled on itself in 2d case, & one the 8 oz weight has sunk & the other not risen.

March 27' quite failed to lift 6 oz & 8 oz— upper part of radicle become contorted— one of roots so jammed in hole broke rather than be withdrawn.
