March 26th. 9° a.m. Loaded bean with 6 oz on board, with pegs on each side of board on level — Hole surrounded on 3 sides with wood & 28th 8 Am I think has certainly lifted up the 6 oz— Put pins to mark the levels

Mar 26th 10° 30' a.m. Radicle of bean fixed down by wire in earth over Hole in wood within wooden Pincers  ⨀ with spring— distance of points at distal ends ⨀ 

To see expansive force of radicle March 27 8° 30 a.m — bit of wood more apart but pincers not opened. March 28' do — 30' same distance 

26th 10° 45'. Slightly Inclined smoked glass with thickest bristle & lower down slip of wood about 1/10' of inch high cemented on, to see if tip of radicle can jump over.

Radicle of Bean

March 26th. 11° a.m — Long slip of smoked glass with radicle of 2 beans just over edge; to try gum & carbonate of Ammonia.—

March 26th. 11°. a.m. white sand pressed level & coated twice with gold-beaters skin leaf— Penetrated gold & sand, but could not get surface smooth— Bean secured by wire 

March 27' Brick on end with hole— bean loaded with 6 oz

28' 8° a.m. I think risen— put in pins touching tops of guide-sticks.

March 27' 9° 30 a.m. 2 radicles crawling over smoked glass ⨀ [sketch] ⨀ with scratch where now end— carb. Ammn. & gum put on one side seemed at first to attract radicles & then killed them
