Five Six of these were left viz (1) 10 (5), (6) (7) (10) & ( n 13) at 5°. 30' P.m. on July 1'. & I am nearly sure hung down more or less perpendicularly & now 5 of them are extended almost horizontally, being bent close  to the seed itself & not at the tip— they are rigid but do not look healthy— This is an extraordinary fact.— Have they been attracted to the damp cork, but if so why has not tip bent? July 3d 8° 30' a.m the 6th radicle has now turned up so as to be horizontal— The other are limpid — I have little doubt that this movement is precursor of death, but why it occurs I know not.—
