Mimosa pudica

I rubbed with needle pulvinus of 6 seedlings 2 of them had vots. raised, but this was probably due to pricking, for I pricked on pulvinus, & in a few minutes Cots. was a little raised.— I may therefore conclude from this & previous observation that pulvinus alone slightly sensitive, for Cots. did not go to sleep even after severe pricking, but were slightly raised. (used)

Heliotropism & Touch.

I also marked 3 cots which were horizontal & 3 which were inclined, & placed pot in S.W window & sun shone on them for a time, they were then placed in my obscure washing corner & in 24' the cots of two were slightly raised & not more after being left for 42' in corner ↘

(not worth using)

[116v]

If I can trust my memory Cots of Smithia sensitiva were very sensitive to light — so I suspect that sensitivity to light & touch go together.—
