Annal. des Sc. (4th S.) Bot Tom. 9. 1858

p 164 M. S. Ratchinsky Mouvement des plantes la lumiere — Many references. — repeats Dutrochet — Certainly shows that turgescence has much to do with movements — cutting off slices of swelling mimosa clearly an effect — but not absolute — chemical action by light thickens fluids & cause endosmose on one side to overpower other side

(Bruke on Mimosa Müllers Archiv 1848 p. 454 — 435?!) best paper

Most difficult subject something not understood. — Thickness of cell-walls important; those on side which swell under a stimulant.—

Excellent paper — supposes many causes.—

[190v]

If Dutrochet can be trusted about oxygenated water important.
