Alabama Cotton. 1880

Feb. 5th 10º. 10' P.m

Cots. average broad .8 inch. considerably depressed— more than 45º beneath horizon several of them It seem chiefly those turn to light

Feb. 6th I think only heliotropism

(Feb. 7th 10º P.m. some a little depressed about 40º. largest cot. 1.3 inch in breadth.)

Feb 12º 10. 15 P.m were rather dry— Cots decidedly declined — almost asleep. 1 Cot 2.1. inch broad — no plumule.

Sea-island Cotton.

Feb. 5 10º. 10' P.m

Cots. broad. about .8 inch— considerably depressed, but chiefly those turned to light

(Feb 6' I think only Heliotropism (placed now so that light comes only from above))

(Feb. 7th— 10º P.m Cots. all horizontal largest Cot 1.35 inch in breadth no plumules)

Feb 12th 10º 15 P.m. biggest Cot 2.1 breadth — no plumule — Cots a little declined
