March 31' 1879 10° 45' P.m

Trifolium repens & pratense cotyledons not closed T. incarnatum much raised, but not closed (see to this again)

April 2d last night long petioles quite closed, during day slightly divergent; blades of cots, curved outwards & during day almost horizontal, at night much raised so that chord of the cots 38° form vertical, or 52° ✓ above horizon— doubtful whether to be called sleep. [sketch] chord.

April 7th 10° P.m. The Cotyledons are now very nearly vertical as is first true leaf.─
