He had two sons, William, & Robert, a barrister the father of Erasmus. I suppose that Cleatham & the Waring property were left to William, who seem to have followed no profession, & the Elston estate to Robert; for whom the latter married he gave up his profession & lived ever afterwards at Elston. There is a portrait of him at Elston Hall, & he looks with his great wig & bands like a dignified Doctor of Divinity. He seems to have had some taste of for science, for he was an early member of the [illeg] Spalding Spalding Club; & the celebrated antiquary Dr Stukeley in "an account of the almost entire sceleton of a large animal &c" was published in the Philosophical Transaction, April & May 1719, begin begin his paper as follows: "Having Having an account from my fired, Robert Darwin Esqr of Lincoln's Inn, a Person of Curiousity, of a known scle Sceleton (as it as then then thought) impressed in Stone, found lately by the Rector of Elston &c."
