Madam, I am desired by the Council of this Society to acquaint you with the following resolution passed by them at their meeting held on the 3rd inst.:-

"That this Council desires to record its deep sense of extraordinary value of the scientific labours of the late Mr. Charles Darwin, a Fellow of this Society, and that a copy of this resolution be communicated to Mrs. Darwin as an expression of sympathy with her and the rest of her family at the irreparable loss which thy have sustained by his death."
