A general feeling exists that the University of Cambridge should not be without a memorial to Mr CHARLES DARWIN.

It is proposed that a Meeting of resident Members of the University be held at 3 o'clock on Monday the 26th inst., to consider the best form to be taken by such Memorial.

The Meeting will be held in the Combination Room of Christ's College (of which Society Mr Darwin is a member), by the kind consent of the Master and Fellows.

Darwin Memorial.

AFTER the Congregation of the Senate on 17th November, at which the Honorary Degree of Doctor in Laws was conferred upon Mr CHARLES DARWIN, it was suggested that the University should not be without some memorial of one of its most distinguished men. This feeling became more widely spread, and Members of the University were invited to meet on November 25th, in the Combination Room of Christ's College, of which Society Mr DARWIN is a member.

At this Meeting, at which the MASTER OF CHRIST'S presided, the following Resolutions were passed unanimously:

1. Proposed by Professor HUMPHRY, Seconded by Professor FAWCETT:

"That it is desirable that the University should possess a personal memorial of Mr CHARLES DARWIN, LLD."

2. Proposed by Professor NEWTON, Seconded by Mr PEILE:

"That the Members of the University now present form themselves into a Committee with power to add to their number, for the purpose of collecting Subscriptions from Members of the University to carry out the foregoing Resolution."

3. Proposed by Professor LIVEING, Seconded by Dr HORT:

"That the personal Memorial be in the form of a portrait, to be offered for the acceptance of the University."

4. Proposed by Professor LIVEING, Seconded by Mr J. WILLIS CLARK:

"That Mr Dew-Smith, of Trinity College, be Treasurer and Secretary and be authorised to receive Subscriptions."

5. Proposed by Professor STUART, Seconded by Mr TROTTER;

"That the thanks of the Committee be given to the Master and Fellows of Christ's College for the use of the room for the purpose of holding the present meeting, and to the Master of Christ's for presiding."

His Grace the CHANCELLOR of the UNIVERSITY has expressed his wish to be placed upon the Committee.

At a subsequent meeting of the Committee in the Combination Room of Christ's College, the following were appointed an Executive Committee:
