Brother of Mary H. 1865 Married Cicely Mary Wedgwood. 5 children; 1 Dorothy M 1866-1932 ED's diary "Cicely confined" on 31 Aug. 1866, 2 Katherine Anne 1868-1911?, 3 Oliver H 1869-1949, 4 Cicely F 1871-1925, 5 Mildred C 1875-1927. 1870 June 18, H visited the Darwins. 1872 Jul. 12, H and Cicely dined. ED was particularly close to Mildred.

Wedgwood, Cicely Mary, 1837-1917. 3d child of Francis and Frances Mosley. Emma Darwin reads "Cicely". Wedgwood, 1980 reads "Cecily". Visited Down regularly from 1850. 1865 Married John Clarke Hawkshaw. 1866 Aug. 31 ED wrote "Cicely confined", 1st child Dorothy M. 1867 W was in Cambridge when the Darwins were and they had tea. My dear Frank

I am sorry to trouble you at such a time but Cicely would much like to go with her father to your father's funeral and I suppose cannot do so without a special card. I need hardly say I should like

to go too besides my admiration and respect for your father which I shall with very many others I can never forget his kindness to me from the time when he sent me birds nests as a boy through this many years it has been my happiness to meet him. I can also feel the great loss he will be to you all and am truly sorry for you in your trouble.
