These papers were sent to Osbert John Radcliffe Howarth in August 1940. Howarth was the curator of Down House from 1929-1954. Howarth, O. J. R. and E. K. Howarth. [1933.] A history of Darwin's parish: Downe, Kent. With a foreword by Sir Arthur Keith. Southampton: Russell & Co. Text A540. Darw seems to have added the sums wrongly, the total should be £15,678.
