Dec: 26th 1929—

My dear Sir

Please accept my sir, hearty thanks for your most valued "Christmas Card" which reached me on Christmas morning.

With regard to the publication of my Father's memorial sermon, preached in Westminster Abbey, all I have

[1v]

To say is that Major Darwin can do with it whatever he thinks right.

Personally I should feel very pleased if he can find room for it in the 1932 No: of whatever book or magazine he may have in mind. A short time ago

[2]

I sent the sermon to Henshaw Ward, the author of "Evolution for John Doe"— a great admirer of Darwin. When he returned it he wrote me a very grateful letter— He regretted it had never been published.

Leslie E. Goodwin

[In Leonard Darwin's hand:] P.T.O

I certainly hope that it may be published sometime

Leonard Darwin
