Few countries offer so wide a field for granitic investigation – Primitive trap very abundant. – NE & SW commonest line. - Granite lines of fracture N & S crossing stratification obliquely. Granite on West coast from Suret to Cape Comorin. North Ceylon, as far as Madras.

In southern India scarcely a trace of aqueous deposits – Carnatic &c granitic plains surprisingly level
