[illeg] chiefly in quartzon veins – parallel to those of copper some neighbouring blackish porphyry also metalliferous

p 86 Paramillo – many upper veins upper parts carbonate & oxides, lower sulphates in curious sedimentary rock veins accompanied by much carb of lime – near sides large plates of mica, - but veins run NNW & SSW others transverse to them (7)

p 89 [illeg] deep copper slime chiefly oxides in soft decomposing granite – chiefly runs E & W.

Arqueros - Refer to my description NW & SE sulp of Barytes.

fact about pure copper – (few miles in same formation less metamorphosed to East. –

Coquimbo to Guaco

p. 110 Near same granite with copper – the district of mica slate said to abound with copper matrix calcareous mineral with trapstone – the plates of metallic copper much carbonate & sulphate of copper.

p 112 [illeg] allied slates & granites of Guaco auriferous & copperiferous.

Copiapo

p 128 intrinsic little of porphyry & andesite silver

p 145 Sub district of Copiapo (but I did not visit best view) [illeg] gold sliver copper lead mercury iron – copper of rare very irregular – less metamorphic action –

S. Pedro potash silex mine high up on summit of porphyritic conglomerate formation

[91v]

C. Prado – poor copper veins & gold mine said to be worked NNW SSE p. 3 note – granite series

Syenite hill remarkable. south of Quillota silver p. note

p. 8 bart. on [illeg] of B. of Quillota copper mines - & pure gold vein in allied slat & porph conglom of this hill p 9.

Yaquil – copper with some gold in altered slates & [illeg] but not in the alternating porph. conglom of – iron glance & carb of lime – veins irregular in course.

Uspallata Range

p 46 Eastern side – poor gold & silver. disseminate in ferrugineous veins

47 several gold mines in central parts of Range

49 nulilis veins excessively numerous NW & SE in auderite  & casing, [illeg] of imperfectly crystallized feldspathic ferrugineous vein, with auriferous ferrugineous gias – mine worked a a concave of the gias – matrix of veins like those Yaquil – at no great distance from silver mine & some good copper ore.

p 55 near trees large veins NW & SE worked for gold

64 slate mountains – silver - / famous silver mine of Uspallata said to be in this slate – ore argentiferous lead / also gold

Valparaiso to Coquimbo

p 70 C. de los Vincas – granitic series copper mines – was assured gold seem of las vaca was in granite

p 71 near Illapel – granitic series veins N by W & S by E – mucous veins chiefly copper with iron-glans or micaceous iron-ore

p 78 Los Hornos – gold veins – vein quartzon & red oxide iron & black micaceous copper pyrites – best vein runs N-NW to S-SE. in country strata & paps of intrinsic porphyries – matrix & ores like those of Illapel – subsequent to [illeg] epoch.

p 82 at Paral in porph conglom. silver in matrix of quartz & feldspar. – near junction of – to granitic – copper mica.

p 83 circumscribed species of syenite at bos of C. Los Hornos with much copper ore with some black micaceous iron ore – chief direction NNW & SSE. great many poor mercury veins (with some copper) in decomposing auderite
