Earthquake of 1822
3 minutes previously at Valparaiso to St Jago Meyen found evident proofs both N & South of Valparaiso in confirmation of Mrs Graham at Coquimbo & Copiapò, thinks one elevation 40 ft.
Coast of Chile all Syenitic = banks of shells 40 & 50 ft Copiapò immense beds – Masses of minute [illeg] fragments, & amongst millions & millions Concholepas with gigantic Balanus covered pholas; Venus Dombeyi Calyptra & tracks form a kind of Cardium Pecten Mytilus & very many more.
Copiapò lines of caves, worn in bank of shells at different elevations
