Upper part of super cretaceous strata with cap irregular of gravel - at Bovey
P 190: also at Nice common in all the Sections
P. 201; 2; 3, This latter is generally the case, in whole base of Maritime Alps.— Clay (alternating sometimes, & this is important) capped by gravel:
= The sub-Alpine strata appear perhaps to have same relation of pebbles & sand.
P 207. Sedgwick

= The Covering of chalk flints in London Clay is fact of same class.
= strata not near mountains as they rose would probably be capped with sand:— (P 246)

Supercretaceous beds, more mechanical in England, than the corresponding ones in France. P 238 (because nearer to high land. - And the Paris basin nearer to Volcanoes of Central France - which were active at this time. - at time of Calcaire grossier active??
Coarse pisolitic structures in some Supercretaceous limestone: analogy with St. Jago
If my view of all conglomerate (with wood) being near land: then these not possessing bones renders it probable that Mammalia did not exist.

Notices that Beaches only form fringe round Continents & do not extend far from the shore: That soundings, pebbles on NW Coast of Ireland were encrusted by Seruplæ.
P 76.- Does not give any cause why beaches generally front low country.
it is because for long periods currents remain constant, either removing material or not, in latter case forming Cliffs

Lyell says most of the subappenine strata capped with gravel
{It has been remarked that conglomerates separate distinct formations, this harmonize beautifully with subsided Patagonia for such would be the case
