(1) Leaves try to arrange themselves so as to stand at equal distances from those on all sides above & below.
(2) Leaves Over each leaf another will be produced directly above at varying heights.
(3) At end of shoot very young leaf-bud stand on almost flat surface, & so much crowded that if new bud — formed, some wd have to to be developed above, for they cd not be developed below.—
(4) Young leaf-buds have power of arranging themselves & altering their position.—
(5) Primordial state of every plant with spiral leaves to have 2 alternate leaves —
