June 13th 63. I have been looking at shoot of Plum carefully — summit of axis round slight elevation, round which there are 3 buds about touching, 2 last formed quite touching — in proper positions.
These 3 buds decrease regularly in size; & stand nearly on a level; the oldest of 3 I think on lower level, but little difference.
Certainly no space for additional bud between 2 last —
Buds must be alternately formed, but united one over the other; or in alternate always to one side.─
