Henslow's Bot. p. 130 — a few cones on same trees often possess a different divergence from rest & even on same cone; many of these anomalies originate in causes, which it is not difficult to appreciate.— It is often common to find in cones on same tree the generating spiral turning to right & left —

Braun Rejuvenescence p. 116 — Plants begin as a whole, or in a branch, on simple plan 1/1 or 1/2 & then become more complicated, in bracts of receptacle — then simpler in cyclic combination in the flower —
