[A36]

Remarks on the 9 Plums (Sept 1 55) sent me by Mr Cattell) (orleans & morocco alike & stones alike. Blue gage considerably alike in fruit, but not so like in stone.— Harvest & Black margate as unlike as most plums, but stones very like. Denyer's victoria & Goliath considerably alike, stones very different; Washington stone very large for plum, rather elongate whereas plum spherical & considerably oblate — like [illeg] Whereas Goliath which is a more elongate plum than Washington, has a less elongated stone.— The orleans & Bulls Eye agree in being spherical (& colour) but stone in roughness disagrees very greatly.
