All Humble-Bees at Maer Garden-Flowers

Maer July (40) Saw humble Bee fly to 3 diff: varieties of French Poppy Because common Bees all dead (⸮ common Corn) & then to a carnation Poppy (other species certainly. — another Bee flew on 2 other varieties of the Corn & on another of Carnation P. — I saw same Bee alight twice on same poppy after little interval. They avoided other flowers— Another Bee in course of few minutes (X) flew to almost every clump of Oenothera. passing by Escholzia [Eschscholzia] & other yellow flowers resembling it. — & visited very many flowers in each clump. —

I saw large humble bee, on other hand fly from

snap-dragon to Honeysuckle, & then to Lime tree & visit many flowers in each— How soon does nectary redeposit honey try. — I observe the Bees are fairly dusted all over with pollen from routing in large flowers—

Having watched 1000's of flowers. I at last saw one humble bee visit a plant. & saw other just alight on other

I never saw Bee visit Heartease rarely just settle on it— ⸮ is lost in the garden varieties? & common Scrophularia yet they visit nightshade & fox glove.—

Saw Bee fly from Lupine looked into every flower to Poppy & Oenothera. They visit other papilionaceous flowers. Coronella & Kidney Beans— & Clover But I did not see one on common Peas or Beans — Yes

In these Papli: flowers they do not appear to suck where the anthers lie, but at bottom of hood.
