Sir J. Lubbocks gardener told me he had often seen Humble Bees biting holes in spur of Tropæolum tricolor, which so abounds with honey & which plant in Zoological Gardens & at other places.— I have so wondered that Bees did not attack.

Do they learn it by chance or after a season.
