p. 391 As the Orang grew older the nail of the hinder thumb which had existed rudimentarily quite disappeared.

p. 392 The presence of the nail is very variable.

420 Hylobates agilis. The union of the 1st & 2nd finger of the foot varies much in different individuals. Sometimes plainly united & sometimes not at all.

434 Hyl. Lar. 1st & second toe not at all united; but in a 2nd specimen united by a broad web to the end of the 1st phalanx

Other facts given shewing variability in this respect. In H. syndactylus it is well & known & curious charcter that these 2 fingers are united — Var . in same species like other species
