(1) If whole body whether small or many changes, if small spreading afterwards & the very change implies extinction of the steps.) either in one locality or 1/2 isolated dozens, then evidence can be f. only geologically — depends on — &c.— (a)

2) If species changes over wide area intermediates in intermediate zone, & ∴ case as explained & apt to be extinguished.

(3) If animals body species changes mingled up with [illeg] parent forms conditions will be chiefly often organic, & so not no intermediate blending climatal stations.—

But hopeless to discuss subject in detail from not knowing origin of such intermediate vars. as do exist

The species to existing before modifications, generally in the 1/2 dozen areas implies generally a continuous area since broken up, this breaking up wd destroy intermediate forms if they then existed. A stray colonist wd get suddenly into new conditions
