America & in some insects P. machaon.— But if due to selection, owing to some different place of [illeg] of nature, there wd be two forms of differences & a difference wd (Mem several Galapagos islands) mainly depend on other & not upon whole, but chiefly on some few allied organism

⸮ beings, it wd not be so graduated — wd depend on occupier.— the intermediate forms wd be produced either by crossing & by less perfect selection in the less changed conditions, & wd be fewer in consequence.— comparable to stock of cattle acted on by man in adjoining areas.
