Ch 6

One admires industry of man who out of a bed of roses exposed to new conditions of manure, in course of 10 or 12 years watches the origin & selects 2 or 3 varieties what is this to nature who watches a million individuals exposed them to endless varieties of conditions during thousands of yrs, unerringly selects & exterminates those she does not want. Can we wonder then that the varieties produced by nature are a thousand fold
