Sept 25/62 Bournemouth. Clarkia pulchella has 4 aborted stamens with little shrivelled anthers without pollen. C. Elegans good gradation; will be worth testing power of pollen, as case of gradation. Shorter stamens Do not disappear as in Spergula. Hooker spoke of non-polliniferous anthers as sometimes of different colours, & E. elegans shows this fact before entire abortion.
