Walnut May 25 1864

Fertilised by wind stamens short but male flowers fixed on long Racines, which is easily shaken by wind. Anthers open widely laterally & let large quantity of quite incoherent pollen fall out without any shaking. Stigma very large & rough prominently seated on ovarium.
