Bilberries rather late is frequented by numerous small Humble-bees as flower depends & stigma small at end of pistil chance of pollen got on it but by bees inserting proboscis & other [2 words illeg] & stigma must be rolled in it – Pollen rather course long abundant in compound flower.

In the crow-berry structure nearly similar pistil long depending – flower in small clumps & pistil bends slightly outwards & not straight down as in Bilberry, when flowers are solitary & Bees crawl straight under this must [illeg] impregnation.

In Geranium phæum in which Bees always go to summit stigma rather depends instead of turning up in gangway of nectary as is so common.

In grey wood of Scotch Fir – female flowers generally above male & pollen when air calm seem to rise in cloud. In the female flower each cone seems to have only [illeg] as their grains scatter indiscriminately & apparently not on stigma.
