[46]

June 8 Crucianella stylosa. The corolla is narrowish & anthers open in bud & are pressed round very rough & clubbed stigma which greatly elongates by quick growth & elasticity. The knobbed stigma brushes as much pollen, but not apparently all, but I think all is removed, before stigma opens.

(I suspect good case of Dichogamy, but doubtfully good for use of elongation of pistil.

I had better leave out this case so much pollen left is often protrusion of stigma

In Fraxinella, after bursting of 1/2 anthers & then turning up then pistil elongates & turns up. It is this second case of 1/2 Dichogamy.

(1857)

V. C. Sprengel I think Horsechesnut like Fraxinella - Yes stamen turn up but wither away turned up.
