Feb. 26 / 58 F. Smith says there are plenty of small Spring Bees in N. Zealand, Andrenidæ, but he has never seen them on Leguminosæ. He has seen black Anthophora on Beans: this genus not known in N.Z. but occurs in Australia - is not Bombus, but has long tongue & comes near it. Bombus not in N. Zealand or Australia. I remember some Bees on Kidney Beans very like Hive Bees, but thicker.
