Sept 12th 1858 I have watched for several years the Cuphea which is loaded with honey & never saw Bee visit it: I even placed this shiny pot close to hive. Yesterday I saw Bees visiting to paler species & today both species. Not yet seen Humble Bee
This bears on Bees not discovering Clover in N. Zealand

Sept 16th Saw B. muscorum sucking the pale Cuphea. This autumn very bad for honey. Mr Tegetmeier perhaps they go to these flowers from starvation.
