Silliman's Journal Vol 11.

P. 39. The Revd S. Dwight account of the eruption of Longlake into Mudlake, upper lake 200 ft above lower;. drained from the opposite end to that which was breached. Traces of old water level were discoverable after the drainage, at the great rush the barrier apparently formed of loose matter was carried away to a breadth of a quarter of a mile, depth of 150 ft. It is said that there were other lakes with similar structures in Vermont. Case favourable to Sir Lauder Dick's theory.
