As a contrast with the evidence of the Atlantic isld I may bring forward the Mediterranean islds. These are (1) not separated by proposed ocean (2) on geolog map they look like part of continent. (3) their distance not so great. (4) They have mammals (& Frogs? & W. Fish) see whether the tribes of insects not f. in Madeira both now living & extinct: The [illeg] got here got only during glacial period & anatomy f fossil is a northern form (5) They have numerous species of plants & these are closely similar in properties though this no great argument (6) The extensions of land are great part of Mediterranean, explains close similarly especially of some quadrupeds, on N & S shores of Mediterranean & even extension of some same species into Abyssinia. (7) This same law explains the presence of certain plants in Spain & Eastern Europe.
