Hooker Misc 2/241 Ledebours journey to Altaics Mts
Ascending from steppes vegetation at 4500 ft has a greater similarity to that of Europe than on the steppe though some of the peculiar forms yet are found. p. 249 From 4500 to 6500 ft the European species gradually diminish to give place to the Flora of the Altai.
